Julie’s Dressed by the Kids for Oxfam!

She’s always smart but Sequel’s Julie Sander was particularly eye-catching last Friday (16 June) when she was Dressed by the Kids to raise money for Oxfam.

Julie’s nine-year-old daughter Rosie Rae and son Leo (nearly seven) were delighted to choose mum’s clothes for the day as part of Oxfam’s annual Dressed by the Kids initiative.

‘I just came across the event and thought my daughter would absolutely love to get involved,’ says Julie, Senior Producer with Sequel’s film and video unit. ‘I was happy for them to choose my clothes and do my hair for the day but I drew the line at make-up!’

Luckily Rosie Rae went for an ‘old fashioned and elegant’ theme and dressed Julie in a blue dress, vintage lace belt, beige shoes and blue hat trimmed with a pink flower. To complete the look, there was a large ‘Dressed by the Kids’ badge.

‘I wore the outfit all day and got some very strange looks. On the run to our local school in West Hampstead everyone was staring – particularly at the badge. I had to go into Waitrose later and got some funny looks in there but strangely at a meeting in the afternoon no one mentioned it at all!’

As well as getting stares from passers-by, Julie had to endure being very hot all day.

‘I did it for fun but it was nice to raise some money to fight poverty too,’ she says.
