Nationwide: new channel engages R&D community with strategy

The challenge

Nationwide Building Society is the largest Building Society in the world, with 18,000 employees, around 650 branches and 15 million members. Its recently created Relationships and Distribution (R&D) community needed a new channel to reach all R&D people, giving them an update on all the latest news and an insight into the Society’s strategy. The channel needed to create a sense of community, while explaining R&D’s role in the bigger picture.

Our solution

As many of R&D’s employees are based in branches and contact centres with limited computer access we opted for a regular bi-monthly print publication, complimented by an online PDF version. Bitesize is eye-catching, bright and fun, with a professional but chatty style that reflects the R&D brand. As the name suggests, the 16-page, A5 magazine is designed to be easy to digest and to be read while on the go.

The impact

As Leader of the Relationships and Distribution community Graeme Hughes puts it: “Bitesize is becoming a much loved and embedded communications channel for our people. What’s more, it’s playing an important role in our efforts to focus on engagement and to raise awareness of our strategy while also benefiting the wider Nationwide.”
