Sab miller Yammer quiz

The challenge

Annual results aren’t the easiest thing to communicate to employees, and the usual ways of releasing them were not working for UK-based multinational brewing and beverage company SAB Miller. Not even the firm’s Yammer platform was getting much traction.

The company turned to Sequel to find a more interesting and engaging way of sharing its performance in a new way.

The solution

Sequel’s solution was to create a results quiz, a piece of highly shareable, interactive and animated content that could go out principally from Yammer, but also other channels.

The most important part of the quiz was preparing the questions – they couldn’t just be fact based; the answers had to have context. The main aim was to enhance employee knowledge by making the quiz interesting.

The quiz was designed, animated and built with Yammer in mind, as that’s the company’s primary social platform.

Users who completed the quiz were given a score and were able to share their results through Yammer to encourage other people to take it – just like a BuzzFeed quiz on Facebook.

The value

Through 10 questions SAB was able to communicate numerous pieces of information by giving detailed answers and talking around the subject. This meant that everyone who took part came away with a better understanding of the company’s performance and what it meant to them.

The Yammer ‘share’ function meant the quiz went viral, reaching a much wider audience than was usual, and getting more people interested and involved with the results. In fact, the quiz was the most-used piece of Yammer content SAB Miller had ever had. Needless to say, the formula has been repeated.
