Employee engagement in the modern workplace: how Nationwide’s people are helping to shape their own future

There’s been a lot of noise around hybrid working and how corporate life will change post pandemic but arguably the most influential contribution to this hottest of topics has come from the world’s biggest building society, Nationwide.

Its comprehensive Future of Work report – and policy for its employees to ‘work anywhere’ – attracted headlines across the world and with contributions from dozens of other leading organisations is viewed by many as a definitive guide to the future of the modern workplace.

Speakers and case study:

Employees shaping the hybrid workplace from the bottom up – Nationwide Building Society’s case study

We’re delighted therefore to welcome Kate Shaw, Senior Internal Communication Manager at Nationwide, as our guest for our next Sequel Presents: A Coffee With webinar on 3 June.

Kate Shaw – Senior Internal Communication Manager at Nationwide Building Society

Kate will talk through the main findings of the Future of Work report, but we’ll be asking her in particular about the role of employees in the compilation of the report and the new ways of working at Nationwide.

As Nationwide CEO Joe Garner said: ‘We’ve listened and learned and we’re putting our employees in control of where they work from’.

As Kate will explain, as an exercise in effective employee engagement it’s ticked a whole lot of boxes, providing a meaningful outcome. Interviewed by Becky Leonard, Sequel’s Insight and Content Manager, co-creator of IoIC’s first IC Career Guide and Kate’s fellow alumni of the Masters in Internal Communication Management, she’ll also share how the IC team at Nationwide will continue to ask colleagues to help shape future working patterns.
