The fab four – awards galore at IoIC ‘18

Sequel brings home ‘Best Mobile/App’, ‘Best Design – Digital’, ‘Best Writing – Digital’, and ‘Best News Channel – Digital’ at the IoIC Awards 2018

“Top job.”

That’s what the judges had to say about Sequel’s entries in this year’s Institute of Internal Communication (IoIC) Awards. With four class wins and 12 awards of excellence, we were recognised for innovation and skill in digital, design and editorial.

The award ceremony took place on Friday 28th September at the Intercontinental Hotel, Park Lane, London, where over 300 internal communication professionals gathered to recognise and celebrate the best of the best of our industry.

Suzanne Peck, Sequel’s Managing Director, says: “We’re so proud of the Sequel team, bringing home four awards that showcase our talent in content, insight and technology. We aim to connect and inspire employees to deliver brilliant business performance, so to be recognised by our peers for doing just that is fantastic.”

Sequel’s fab four:

Best Mobile/App

Winner:

MY MARKETS app for CB Markets, part of Lloyds Commercial Banking – created in app:IC

The judges said:

“The content is interesting and planning looks rigorous. A well-executed app, underpinned by a well organised content strategy that’s been well received by the business.”

From the team:

“We put a lot of effort into defining the perfect position for the app as part of our communications mix, so we’re really happy that the clarity of purpose was recognised. It’s just a shame the Lloyds team weren’t there to accept the award with us!” Rozi Pearson, Digital Project Manager, Sequel Group

Best News Channel – Digital and Best Design – Digital

Winner:

The Reporter Quarterly for White and Case

What the judges said:

“We are certainly impressed by the publication. It’s modern, sleek, and feels totally befitting of a law firm. It feels incredibly simple, but effective and inventive at the same time. Top job.”

“This digital news channel has been well thought through to help the business it serves. A great digital news channel.”

From the team:

“We know a lot of people in the Firm enjoy reading The Reporter Quarterly and we are delighted to receive this recognition that it is best-of-the-best among its peers.” Madeleine Malik, Internal Communications Director – White & Case

“Our goal is to unite a global audience, using striking design and engaging writing to make readers feel proud of their contribution to the bigger picture. Working alongside more regular channels, we aim to bring White & Case’s strategy and values to life. This award (alongside early measurement and reader feedback) is further proof that we’re heading in the right direction.” Jason Dowty, Editor, Sequel Group

Best writing for digital

Winner:

#DigitalDiaries for NHS Digital and UCLPartners

What the judges said:

“The planning and execution of this campaign is strong, as is the way in which the information was constructed and organised. The business casual style is engaging and easy to read.”

From the team:

“Huge thanks to Sequel Group – great work with us on sharing best practice and driving innovation across the NHS.” Rachel Royall, Director of Communications, NHS Digital

“We’re pleased and proud to have won for #DigitalDiaries – particularly because this project is all about the power of internal communication and how it can have such an important impact on employees and patients in the NHS.” – Rebecca Leonard, Communications and Content Manager, Sequel Group
