Why your passwords aren’t keeping your online information safe

In the past year, two in five people have had a password stolen or an account hacked. That could be because 54 per cent of people use five or fewer passwords during their entire lives. What about you?

This infographic from Telesign reports that 47 per cent of people use passwords that are at least five years old. In the past year, two in five people had had a password stolen or an account hacked.

Fifty-four per cent of people are duplicate-password users, using five or fewer passwords during their entire lives. Plus, the most popular passwords in 2014 were “12345,” “123456,” “12345678,” “password” and “qwerty.”

We’re basically giving hackers an open invitation to steal our information.
